Parachutes
These have been developed as
a result of sports science research in USSR and USA. They can be
very useful as a resistance training aid. Chutes are used to collect air
and cause a drag on the athletes and were developed from "parachute brakes"
on aircraft. By changing the size of the chute the resistance on
the athlete can be changed. Two models are available (a) power chute
(b) kahuna chute.
Power Chutes
These drogues have a unique
(patended) resistance adjustment. There are 4 bridle lines and a
sewn parabolic canopy. This shape gives quicker lift and better
flight stability. They are good for power work for sprinters and
jumpers.
| P1 |
Small to 10lbs resistance |

| P2 |
Medium to 15lbs resistance |

| P3 |

These power chutes may be coupled
together to increase resistance.

Kahuna
This chute is 3m diameter and can be used in place of a resistance sledge.
If space permits it may also be used indoors. When using this chute
it is possible to change direction and make lateral and weaving movements
which makes it appropriate for use with football and tennis players.
