Athletes Training Diary - Dave Watson

Our aim at Neuff is to inspire athletes of all ability levels to be the best they can be and we aim to do this by providing the tools and the knowledge to enable you to train harder and better to be the best you can be.

Improving in your chosen discipline takes time, practice and patience; but mastering a skill also requires in-depth knowledge that can be taught by your coach, learnt from your peers and eventually ingrained in your psyche.

Our team will be talking to coaches and athletes of all levels about their journeys, reporting back to you with the tips and tricks that have help them to improve.

We will also be visiting training camps, athletics clubs and talking to individuals from professional to amateur to help you with their insight and experience including the highs and the lows.

Neuff will provide this information for free through the website, blog and videos; all we ask is that you also share your experiences with us so we can share them with others.

Todays blog is on Paralympian Dave Watson – Gold medallist in Discus and Shot Put

I asked Dave what his usual training week was like?

Monday – Weights
Tuesday – Cardio and rowing machine
Wednesday – Weights
Thursday – Cardio and rowing machine
Friday – Weights
Saturday – Cardio and rowing machine

What elements are you focussing on at the start of the season?

Through the winter season I concentrate on gym work, normally strength training. When I start to prep for the season we start working on techniques.

I asked Dave if he had any favourite products that he feels makes a difference?

My favourite items are of course my new equipment from Neuff:
1 kg superspin black and steel discus.
1 kg gold discus
My ??? kg shot-put, I also have a favourite wrist strap for shot put.

What is the most fun about training?

“The fun part of training is trying new techniques, but my coach would say it's when she beasts me.”

What is the hardest work about training?

“All training is hard because if you want something then you have to put 100% into it.”

What is your motivation?

“What inspires me is my family. Because everything I do is because of them and for them.”
