Field markers for track and field events

Field markers do a simple job that matters on every competition day: they show officials, athletes and spectators where distances, lanes and lines are. This page covers the main types, from numbered distance markers and marker boxes to marker spikes, sighting boards and flags, and we have grouped them below by what they are used for so you can find the right marker quickly. Distance markers and marker boxes

For marking distances along a track or in a field, the Nelco distance field markers are a set of 15 metal round pegs, numbered 1 to 15, in a lollipop style. The Vinex marker boxes are available for lanes or distance arcs, and they are a good choice when you need numbers that are easy to read from a distance. Once the markers are down, our tape measures for athletics officials and gauges, tapes and tools help you check that every distance is accurate.

Marker spikes and sighting boards

The Neuff marker spikes come in three lengths: a 9 inch steel spike with a right-angle top, an 18 inch version with a turned wooden handle, and a long steel spike, so you can choose what suits your ground and the way your officials work. For triple jump, the sighting boards come as a pair, with a white metal board and a sight line from Neuff, and a Polanik version with a pyramid shape. Run up markers and marker tape for jumps

Run up markers help jumpers check their approach and take-off every time. The steel run up markers are sold per pair in 8cm (Neuff) and 9.5cm (Vinex) sizes, and the run up marker tape is a 50m roll of coloured gaffer tape, 50mm wide, for marking an approach on the track or runway. Flags and break line markers for officials and races

The officials flags come as a pair in red, yellow, white and green, and the plastic pennant flags are a set of 4 with an integrated spike for pushing into the ground, in a mix of colours. On the track, the Vinex break line cones come in orange, green and yellow, and the break line flags are a pair of green flags on a pole with a heavy duty rubber base. Sector marking for throws

To mark out sectors on a playing field or in the centre of a track, the white sector marking tape comes in a 100m roll, and the U-shaped ground staples come in a set of 50 to hold it down. The flat top marker spikes are listed for throws and para events, as ground markers for distances, so check availability before you order.
