The Nordic Valkyrie Javelin is their ‘Medium Hybrid’, which is an elite level javelin specifically made for less technical, but powerful throwers, who are in need of a more forgiving javelin option.

Engineered from mixed composite material, Valkyrie Javelins are therefore more forgiving than the Valhalla and other carbon javelins.  They allow the thrower to make minor technical errors and will self correct immediately after the release for imperfect throws.

All Valkyrie javelins come with an NXS tip.

  • Tip of the Nordic Valkyrie Javelin. NXS style
NXS – Next Generation Sharp tip:   for maximum lift in all wind conditions.  The NXS tip is a universal tip and more forgiving in side/ cross wind conditions

Nordic uses a new ratings system instead of Flex and Distance Ratings.  See the pictures for details.

Skill Level

Javelins are made to suit the different skill levels of the athlete's.  If for example a beginner starts throwing with the expert javelin, the javelin will not perform how it was intended to perform.

Here's how Nordic rate the skill level.
1. Novice
2. Advanced beginner
3. Specialist
4. Expert

Stiffness

The stiffer the javelin, the less it will flex/vibrate in the air and will result in less air drag.  The down side is that it puts a lot more strain on the upper body.  A soft javelin flexes/vibrates a lot, which can also be a very good thing is you are a less skilled thrower.

Aerodynamics

This is the difference between throwing an iron pipe and a fine tuned javelin.  The two most driving factors when it comes to the cost of a javelin is the choice of material & fine tuning of the geometry.  Nordic have invested a lot of time to find the best aerodynamics for the longest flight depending of the stiffness & balance.

Balance

Balance together with aerodynamics will decide when in flight at a given velocity the javelin will turn it's tip towards the ground.  If your javelin has a tendency to land flat you should try a javelin with lower level aerodynamics and balance.
